As the cold winter draws in babies that arrive can bring joy to those cold winter nights. Pregnancy through the summer months can feel long but having winter babies give you the opportunity to use traditional seasonal baby names such as Noel and Joy.
If you are having a winter baby then the latter stages of your pregnancy will be spent during the colder months which can be far better than being pregnant through a long hot summer. However those having winter babies need to make sure that they eat well, take care of their health and take extra care not to slip on icy, snowy streets in the latter stages of pregnancy.
When you are choosing suitable baby names for you new arrival the time of year they are born can have a significant effect on the name you choose. Many babies born around the Christmas period will have names that are traditionally associated with Christmas. Many babies born during the winter months will have baby names that give off a warm feeling such a Sherry.
As you enter the final stages of pregnancy you should make sure you have the essential outwear for your baby when they arrive. When you are out and about taking walks you can buy cosy toes to fit your pushchair that will keep your baby toasty in the coldest of weather. If you are using a car seat that fits on a travel system pushchair you can even get warm covers for the car seat, but you should remember to take them off in the car. If you want your baby to be warm without using a blanket or cosy toes then you may consider buying an all in one snow suit. These keep your baby warm and if they have buttons or zip on the front they can easily be undone without disturbing a sleeping baby when you go inside.
When you are out and about with your winter baby you will want to make sure that they have a hat on their head as the majority of heat loss occurs through their head. You should remember though that when your baby is inside that you don’t want them to overheat so remove all hats inside to allow your baby to cool.
During the final stages of pregnancy your instinct will be to make a nest for your new arrival. When you are arranging your little ones room you should remember that you will want to keep the temperature in the room between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius and that the cot or mosses basket should be positioned away from extremes of temperature from drafts or radiators.
Babies can now sleep in their very own sleeping bags. Baby sleeping bags come in summer and winter tog ratings and are designed to make sure your baby sleeps safely and at the correct temperature. If you choose to use blankets you should remember that the best approach is to use layers and that a folded blanket will count as 2 blankets.
Cold winter months can make everyone feel gloomy but the arrival of winter babies can cheer up all around them. Winter babies also give new grandparents the chance to go Christmas shopping for special baby presents. Pregnancy can begin to feel like a long process but when your new arrival finally makes an appearance the cold winter will be filled with warm joy.
